BMW i7 Reaches 1,000 Sales Milestone in India

The BMW i7, the German brand’s flagship electric sedan, has surpassed 1,000 units sold in India since its launch in 2023, marking a significant milestone for luxury electric vehicles in the country. This achievement highlights rising interest in premium EVs among Indian buyers.

Powertrain & Performance

The i7 is offered in two main trims in India:

  • i7 eDrive50 M Sport – Rear-wheel drive with a 101.7 kWh battery and around 603 km WLTP range per charge.

  • i7 xDrive60 M Sport – All-wheel drive with the same battery and a slightly higher claimed range of 625 km WLTP.

These large batteries ensure strong performance and long distance capability suitable for both city driving and highway touring.

Power & Acceleration

Both trims use BMW’s advanced electric drivetrain technology:

  • The eDrive50 delivers robust power for smooth, refined acceleration.

  • The xDrive60 adds all-wheel drive traction and even stronger performance metrics, making the i7 one of the quickest luxury EV sedans on sale.

Charging & Usability

  • The i7 supports DC fast charging capable of taking the battery from about 10% to 80% in roughly 30–35 minutes, making long trips more convenient.

  • Standard AC charging is also supported for overnight home charging.

Interior & Luxury Features

Inside, the i7 delivers a premium experience with technologies such as large digital displays, high-end sound systems, and executive-class seating comforts features that align with its luxury positioning and justify its flagship status in BMW’s EV lineup.

Pricing & Market Context

  • The BMW i7 in India starts at around ₹2.05 crore (ex-showroom) and can go up to approximately ₹2.7 crore depending on variant and options.

Reaching over 1,000 sales underscores a growing appetite for high-end electric vehicles in India, especially among buyers who prioritise premium comfort, advanced tech and sustainable performance.
